Maybe we need to shift our focus from squeezing diminishing marginal improvements in statistical algorithms to searching for new ways to leverage this brave new world of expanded information.
Algorithms are tools with no inherent “good” or “bad.” And, like all tools, they carry the flaws of the humans that create them. So the next time you see movies treat algorithms as some omniscient source of clairvoyance, just remember they’re only that way in the comics.
